Mumbai, Feb. 13 -- Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) General Secretary Sandeep Deshpande has strongly countered allegations made by the Shiv Sena (UBT) against the Shinde faction over the alleged "50 boxes" deal.
Challenging the Thackeray group, Deshpande said, "You provide proof of the 50 boxes, and we will immediately present evidence of the one crore paid to each of your corporators."Deshpande had earlier alleged that corporators from the Thackeray faction in the Chandrapur Municipal Corporation were paid Rs 1 crore each to support the Bharatiya Janata Party, leading to the BJP's mayor being elected. The Thackeray faction had challenged him to substantiate his claims, prompting this sharp rebuttal.
