Kolhapur, June 23 -- Maharashtra and District Guardian Minister Prakash Abitkar on Monday instructed the heads of every department in administration to give priority to the public interest while implementing government schemes.

Presiding over a meeting of the District Planning Committee (DPC) held at the district collector's office here, he also directed the officers and employees to go among people and understand their problems and solve them.

While interacting with the people's representatives, he told them to give priority to the issues suggested by them and the needs of the common people.

In this meeting, the DPC's expenditure of Rs 696.33 crore of the previous year was passed.
