Hyderabad, Oct. 15 -- In view of the upcoming Diwali festival, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on Wednesday launched a special inspection drive of sweet shops to ensure quality and hygiene standards are being maintained during the preparation and sale of sweets.

The initiative follows regular weekly surprise inspections and is being conducted under the directions of the GHMC Commissioner to safeguard public health.

Food Safety Officers of GHMC have carried out surprise checks in their respective circles, inspecting 27 sweet shops so far, with the drive continuing in other areas.
