Hyderabad, Nov. 25 -- In a major step aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure across the city, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) General Body on Tuesday approved a key resolution to allocate Rs 2 crore for development works in each of the 150 wards/divisions under its limits.

Of them, Rs 1 crore will be earmarked for works proposed directly by the local Corporator, while the remaining Rs 1 crore will be for works identified jointly by the Corporator and the district in-charge minister.

The funds will be used to improve essential civic services such as roads, drainage systems, street lighting, pollution control measures, rainwater canals, parks, community halls and other public amenities.
