Ranchi, Oct. 17 -- The nomination process for the Ghatshila Assembly bypoll gained momentum today as both major contenders, BJP's Babulal Soren and JMM's Somesh Chandra Soren, filed their papers before the Returning Officer.

The by-election, scheduled for November 11, has emerged as a prestige battle for both the ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and the opposition BJP-led NDA.

Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Hemant Soren attended the nomination filing of Somesh Chandra Soren, son of late minister and JMM stalwart Ramdas Soren.
