Berlin/Paris, Sept. 19 -- In a diplomatic contention between Germany and France, Berlin has warned Paris that unless their differences over Europe's new flagship aircraft are resolved by the end of the year, then it may pursue an alternate method for development of the EU's new €100 billion ($108 billion) Future Combat Air System (FCAS) fighter jet programme without involving Paris.

FCAS, launched in 2017 to replace the Rafale and Eurofighter Typhoon by 2040, is a joint initiative between France, Germany and Spain. The project aims to build a Next-Generation Weapon System (NGWS), combining a new fighter jet, drones and networked systems, reports Politico.
