Varanasi, Oct. 15 -- German tourists have joined a campaign aimed at raising awareness about the need to free the sacred Ganga from pollution.
Ahead of and after Diwali, it is common for people to immerse idols and leftover worship material into the Ganga. Today, Namami Gange, in collaboration with the Varanasi Municipal Corporation, promoted a message discouraging the disposal of such items and other waste into the river and its tributaries. The awareness drive took place at Manikarnika Ghat.
German tourists visiting Kashi actively participated in the initiative, helping spread the message of keeping the Ganga clean and joining the cleanliness drive.
