Berlin, Aug. 19 -- German Chancellor post the Europe-Ukraine summit in the US has slammed Russian demands of territorial cessations from Kyiv as a precondition for ending the war, stating that only Ukraine can make this decision.

The Russian demands were reportedly made on the 'new political realities' on the ground.



The comments came shortly after the Monday meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, French President Emmanuel Macron, UK PM Keir Starmer, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, where Merz was also present along with EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen and the NATO leader Mark Ruette.
