Aizawl, June 1 -- The samples of two individuals who recently tested positive for Covid-19 in Aizawl will soon be dispatched to Kolkata for genome sequencing to identify the specific variant of the virus, according to Dr Vanlalrengpuia Chinzah, State Nodal Officer of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP).
Speaking on Sunday, Dr Chinzah noted that the country's current Covid-19 landscape is dominated by the JN.1, XFG, and LF.7.9 variants. Preparations are underway, he said, to send the samples to Kolkata in the early part of the coming week.
