Bengaluru, April 15 -- GE Aerospace has signed a contract with the Indian Air Force to establish an in-country depot facility for the F404-IN20 engines that power the IAF's fleet of Tejas LCA Mk1.
The new facility, to be set up by the Indian Air Force with technical inputs from GE Aerospace, is aimed at strengthening India's indigenous maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) ecosystem for fighter aircraft engines. Once operational, it is expected to reduce dependence on overseas repair centres and significantly improve engine turnaround times, enhancing fleet availability.
