Gandhi Sagar (MP), Feb. 17 -- Gandhi Sagar is the first dam across the Chambal that not only determines the border between Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan but also helps in conserving biodiversity. The dam, in Mandsaur district, was constructed under the states' Joint Multi-purpose River Valley Project.
The Chambal flows into the adjoining Desert State and forms the Rana Pratap Sagar reservoir. The extensive area in which the Chambal quietly flows towards the Gandhi Sagar Dam is rapidly emerging as a centre of attraction for tourism and nature lovers alike. The Gandhi Sagar Forest Retreat is developed by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Department and situated on the bank of the quiet Gandhi Sagar Lake.
