Bhubaneswar, Nov. 7 -- union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced a Rs 1,000 crore allocation under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund for Odisha.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 84th Indian Road Congress (IRC) in Bhubaneswar, alongside Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Gadkari said that road construction across the world now uses waste materials, and suggested that Bhubaneswar's solid waste could similarly be used in road construction to promote a clean and green city.
Gadkari described the Indian Road Congress as the "soul of Indian road engineering", a knowledge platform for infrastructure development, research, engineering, and innovation.
