Nagpur, Sept. 9 -- To rehabilitate former Maoists and integrate them into the mainstream, Gadchiroli police in Maharashtra have launched Project Sanjeevani, a literacy and skill development programme for surrendered cadres, a senior official told UNI today.
The initiative, inaugurated on International Literacy Day on September 8, aims to teach basic reading and writing to over 100 ex-Maoists, many of whom are either illiterate or school dropouts.
Classes are being conducted at the police headquarters' Eklavya Hall, covering education up to the fifth standard, with plans to extend to the eighth standard.
