Bhubaneswar, March 17 -- Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Odisha's Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling, holding him morally responsible for the tragic fire at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, which killed 11 patients and left several others seriously injured.
Raising the issue during zero hour in the Assembly, Patnaik said he spoke with a heavy heart after visiting the hospital following the incident.
"Yesterday, I visited the site of the tragedy. What I witnessed was not just a tragic accident but a grim reminder of the deteriorating safety standards in our state's premier healthcare institution," he said.
