Guwahati, June 20 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that certain fundamentalist elements have entered Assam ahead of the next year's election.

The CM told media on Friday in Guwahati that over 5,000 social media accounts have been activated in the last one month, liking activities of the Assam unit of the Indian National Congress and a particular leader of the party and pushing comments.

"We have done forensic audits of about 2092 such facebook accounts and we came to know that most of them are from outside the country. As many as 700 of such accounts are from Bangladesh, 350 from Pakistan, 50 from Middle East, 35 from Afghanistan and from different other countries like France, Albania and Australia," he said.
