Imphal, Jan. 10 -- Fuel stations across Manipur remained shut indefinitely from Saturday, two days after a bomb was hurled at a petrol pump in Bishnupur district, triggering fresh concerns over the safety of petroleum dealers and staff.

People purchased petrol in the black for around Rs 180 per litre.

The Manipur Petroleum Dealers Fraternity (MPDF), in a letter addressed to Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, said that despite assurances and steps taken by the state authorities, fuel station owners continue to face grave security threats. The fraternity cited Thursday night's bomb blast at M/S Elidas Fuel Station in Moirang as evidence of the prevailing insecurity.
