New Delhi, July 8 -- The Centre's air quality panel has decided to defer the enforcement of a fuel ban on end-of-life (EOL) or overaged vehicles in Delhi until November 1, according to a government statement today.

Under the policy, diesel vehicles older than 10 years and petrol vehicles older than 15 years - classified as EOL - were to be denied fuel at petrol pumps across Delhi starting July 1, regardless of their state of registration.

However, following widespread public concern and logistical hurdles flagged by the Delhi government, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has temporarily suspended the rollout of the directive.
