New Delhi, Aug. 30 -- From struggling to find a club during the COVID-19 pandemic to making a memorable debut for India, Kerala defender Muhammed Uvais Moyikkal's journey has been one of perseverance and determination.

The 27-year-old from Malappuram, who was once without a team during the pandemic, found himself in the Indian senior men's national squad earlier this month and made his first appearance in the CAFA Nations Cup 2025 against Tajikistan.

Just five minutes into his debut, Uvais's long throw-in set up India's opening goal, giving the team an early lead. India went on to register a 2-1 victory, their first competitive win since November 2023, marking a positive start to the Khalid Jamil era.
