Chennai, Aug. 15 -- In a landmark moment for the Indian textile industry, India's first National
Flag made entirely from Kasturi Cotton, a premium Indian-branded cotton celebrated for its purity, softness, and strength, was hoisted on the occasion of 79th Independence Day today.
It was unfurled by the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management (SVPISTM) at Coimbatore, which is widely known as the "Manchester of South India".
This is the first time in the nation's history that the Tricolour has been crafted from Kasturi Cotton, marking a significant milestone in promoting indigenous cotton and India's rich textile heritage, a
