According to the Alipore Meteorological Department, a new low-pressure system is forming over the Bay of Bengal. A cyclonic circulation near the Myanmar coast is gradually shifting westward and is likely to give rise to a fresh low-pressure area over the north Bay by today.

This system may cross the south Odisha coast and move inland by Saturday, which coincides with Panchami.

Under its influence, scattered light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is expected across large parts of South Bengal, with isolated heavy showers in some districts.
