Shimla, July 29 -- The southwest monsoon unleashed another deadly spell across Himachal Pradesh, killing two people today and triggering massive devastation in Mandi and Kullu districts, officials said.
Torrential downpour, registering nearly 200 mm in Mandi town within 24 hours, caused flash floods, landslides and widespread road blockades, bringing life to a halt once again.
Officials said a building near Jail Road in Mandi town was flooded with muck and silt-laden water, trapping 14 residents inside this morning. Though all were rescued, two fatalities were reported.
This tragedy comes after similar cloudbursts in Bugshaid and Tunag in late June, which already left the town vulnerable.
