Chennai, Nov. 25 -- The new Low Pressuure which formed over the Bay today, persistedinthe same region and it would intensify into a Depression in the next 24 hrs, promising hevyrains in Northern, North Coastal, Cauvery delta and Southern districts.

In an update, the Met office on Tuesday night said the Low Pressure Area over southwest Bayof Bengal and adjoining areas of South Sri Lanka and Equatorial Indian Ocean persisted overthe same region at 1730 hours today.

It is very likely to move north-northwestwards and become a Well Marked Low Pressure areaduring the next 12 hours and intensify further into a Depression during the subsequent 24 hrs.
