Hyderabad, Aug. 23 -- A fresh low-pressure area is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha-West Bengal coasts around August 25, the Meteorological Centre said on Saturday.

In its daily weather report, the Met Centre said the existing low-pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining regions persisted at 0830 hours today.

The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level, tilting southwestwards with height. It is expected to move west-northwest across Jharkhand over the next 24 hours and weaken gradually thereafter.

The Met department has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on August 26.
