Mumbai, March 16 -- Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh, described the Maharashtra Freedom of Religion Bill presented by the Mahayuti government as a "one-sided" legislation brought to "target" a particular community.

There is strong resentment among minority communities against this bill and Shaikh demanded in the Assembly that it be sent to a joint select committee of both Houses for reconsideration.

Speaking during the discussion on the bill, Shaikh said bringing such a one-sided bill simply because the government has a majority is not appropriate.
