Thiruvananthapuram, July 9 -- Fraudsters are luring people in need of blood with false promises of arranging donors, collecting large sums of money in advance, and then cheating them, according to the Kerala Police.

Cautioning the public about the growing number of scams in the field of blood donation across the state, the Kerala Police said it has received numerous complaints through its blood donation initiative, Pol-Blood.

People in need of blood often post their details on social media, which has made it easier for scam groups to target them. Paid blood donation has been banned in the country since January 1998.
