Srinagar, Sept. 13 -- Police in Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir today booked a fraudster for allegedly impersonating high-ranking government officers and cheating unsuspecting individuals on the pretext of providing jobs.

According to the police, a case has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal against the accused, identified as Illyas Hameed Bhat, a resident of Bakura, Ganderbal.

Police said investigations revealed that the accused had, at different times, posed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the National Investigation Agency (NIA), an administrator at Kashmir University, and even as a senior officer in the Enforcement Directorate.
