Paris, July 22 -- French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Tuesday that the ministry had started preparing a new package of European sanctions against Russia.

"We will go even further, because I have already asked my team to prepare the next new package of sanctions, which will be even tougher," the minister told the France Inter radio.

Barrot said that the new sanctions package could be approved as soon as possible if Russia fails to agree to a ceasefire.

Moscow has repeatedly said that Russia remains ready for a third round of negotiations with Ukraine.
