Ranchi, Sept. 28 -- Four contractual workers sustained severe burn injuries today when hot molten metal spilled on the ground due to a crane rope failure at the Steel Melting Shop-2 (SMS-2) of Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand.

Officials said the injured workers have been identified as Ranjit Mahata, Brajesh Mahata, Omprakash Mahali and Praveen Kumar. They were initially taken to the plant's medical unit for first aid and later referred to Bokaro General Hospital due to the seriousness of their injuries.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred when a crane carrying a ladle of hot metal suffered a rope failure. The molten metal spilled onto the ground, triggering intense flames that engulfed the workers standing nearby.
