Bengaluru, Aug. 16 -- A devastating fire in a four-storey commercial building at Nagartapete under Halasuru Gate police limits claimed five lives in the early hours of Saturday, including four members of the same family. The deceased were identified as Madan Kumar (36), his wife Sangeeta (33), their children Mitesh (8) and Vihan (5), and Suresh (30), a worker on the second floor. All five were burnt alive as the blaze spread rapidly across the building. Officials said the fire, suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit around 3.30 am, originated from a plastic mat shop on the ground floor and quickly engulfed the upper levels.
