Gadchiroli, Aug. 27 -- Four Naxals, including three women, were killed in a fierce encounter with security forces in Eastern Maharashtra's Gadchiroli district close to the state's border with Chhattisgarh's Naryanpur today, officials said.
According to officials, the operation was launched following intelligence inputs about the movement of Maoist cadres from "Gatta Dalam Company No. 10" and the "Koparshi Van Kshetra" group.
Acting on the tip-off, 19 units of the C-60 commando team, along with two Quick Action Teams of the CRPF, launched a search mission in the forested terrain.
The gun battle lasted nearly eight hours in the dense forests of Gadchiroli district amid heavy rains.
