Imphal, Sept. 27 -- In a series of coordinated operations across Manipur and Assam, security forces have arrested four militants belonging to different banned insurgent groups, including two directly involved in the September 19 ambush on the 33 Assam Rifles at Nambol Sabal Leikai in Manipur's Bishnupur district.

According to police sources, two cadres of the proscribed People's Liberation Army (PLA) were apprehended yesterday.

Among them is an 18-year-old youth, and S/S Lt Corpl Chongtham Mahesh, a senior PLA operative hailing from Keishampat Leimajam Leikai in Imphal West district.
