Chhapra, Dec. 27 -- As many as four members of a family, including three minor children, died due to suffocation after inhaling smoke while sleeping in a room where a coal stove (angithi) was burning in Ambika Colony under the Bhagwan Bazar police station area of Saran district late last night.

Police sources said here on Saturday that the incident occurred when eight members of Ram Lakhan Singh's family slept in the same room after lighting an angithi.

Smoke filled the closed room during the night, causing all of them to suffocate, officials said.
