Chennai, July 20 -- Four people were killed and five others injured when the
car in which they were travelling hit a warning signal board, overturned and plunged
into a roadside pit at Athipakkam village on the Tirukovilur-Tiruvannamalai Highway
in Kallakurichi district of Tamil Nadu today.
Police sources said a cop attached with the Home guard was driving the car when
he lost control of the vehicle resulting in the accident.
In all nine people, including the family of the cop and another family a tenant staying
in his house, were travelling to Tirivannamalai in the car when the mishap occurred.
The deceased were identified as Sangeetha, Subha, Dhanalakshmi and Rajendran.
