Mumbai, Dec. 30 -- Four people were killed and at least nine others injured after a reversing BEST bus rammed into pedestrians outside Bhandup railway station late Monday night, officials said on Tuesday.

The accident occurred around 11:05 pm on December 29 when the wet-leased electric AC bus from Vikhroli depot allegedly lost control during reverse movement and ploughed into a queue of commuters, according to initial reports by the BMC.

The deceased were identified as Pranita Sandip Rasam (35), Varsha Sawant (25), Mansi Meghshyam Gurav (49) and Prashant Shinde (53). Among the injured is 12-year-old Purva Sandip Rasam.
