Bhubaneswar, Oct. 31 -- The Third Additional District Judge-cum-Special Judge, Bhubaneswar, has sentenced four drug peddlers to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh each for their involvement in a brown sugar (heroin) trafficking case under the NDPS Act, 1985.
The convicted individuals, Sk Irfan, Sk Samir, Sayed Imtiyaz (all from Khordha), and Ratiranjan Rout (from Puri), were booked by the Odisha Special Task Force (STF) under Sections 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act.
Based on substantial evidence, the court awarded them 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh each. In default of payment, the convicts will undergo an additional two years of rigorous imprisonment.
