Cairo, July 2 -- An offshore drilling platform has sunk in the Gulf of Suez in the Red Sea, resulting in the death of four people, Egyptian daily Al Masry Al Youm reported.

The incident occurred in the Jabal Zayt area in the north of Egypt's Red Sea Governorate, the newspaper said on Tuesday.

Four of the drilling rig's crew members died, 21 have been rescued, while six are still missing.

The offshore drilling platform was being towed by three vessels when the accident occurred, Al Masry Al Youm specified.

Egypt's Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources has reportedly been notified by the Offshore Shukheir Oil Company (OSOCO) that the Adam Marine 12 offshore drilling rig had capsized in the Gulf of Suez.
