Ludhiana, June 21 -- Four children drowned in a Ludhiana canal, police said on Saturday.

Police said that eight friends had gone to take a bath in Gill canal on Thursday afternoon in the Luhara area of the city. They were swept away in the deep waters after the rope which they were holding broke suddenly. Four among them managed to survive.

Model Town police said that two bodies have been recovered so far; one on late Thursday night and another one on Friday morning. The deceased have been identified as Prakash (14) and Sahil (10). Two boys named Manish (15) and Golu (10) are still missing. Divers and police teams were searching for them. UNI GS MR RN
