Kolkata, Aug. 21 -- The West Bengal government has suspended four officials accused of irregularities in the revision of electoral rolls and has initiated departmental proceedings against them, following directives from the Election Commission of India (ECI).

However, the state government, ignoring the Election Commission of India's directive, has decided not to lodge an FIR against the allegedly tainted officers, top administrative officials told UNI.

The suspension of the officers came just a week after West Bengal Chief Secretary Manoj Pant was summoned by the Eci where he had sought a week's time from the poll panel to take a final decision.
