Raipur, Nov. 19 -- In a span of 48 hours, coordinated counter-insurgency operations across Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and neighbouring states have dismantled key Maoist positions, neutralising top commanders, arresting dozens of cadres and intensifying pressure on a movement already reeling from sustained security action.

A day after the killing of CPI (Maoist) Central Committee member Madvi Hidma, security forces scored another major success on Wednesday when seven Maoists, including Politburo member and general secretary Devji, were killed in an encounter in the same rugged belt along the Andhra Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border.
