Pratapgarh, Nov. 23 -- A long-standing land and political dispute turned violent on Saturday night in Sariyawan village under the Kunda Kotwali area, leading to the death of a former village head's son and injuries to another, police said on Sunday.

According to police, tension had been brewing for years between former village head Mohammad Moazzam, also known as Guddu, and Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Tanveer over land issues and political rivalry. Around 9 pm, an argument between the two groups escalated, resulting in gunfire.
