Mirzapur, April 11 -- A former village head and practicing advocate, Rajiv Singh (50), was shot dead on Saturday morning in the Katra Kotwali area of Mirzapur district.
Rajiv Singh, originally a resident of Devari village under Vindhyachal police station limits, had been living for several years in Sadbhavana Nagar Colony in Katwaru Ka Pura locality. According to police, he had gone out for his routine morning walk and was returning home when the incident occurred.
Near the Sadbhavana Nagar crossing, two bike-borne assailants approached him. One fired at close range, hitting Singh in the chest. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
