Washington, Nov. 4 -- Former US Vice President and 'War on Terror' architect Dick Cheney passed away, on Monday, from complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease, his family announced today.

"Dick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honour, love, kindness, and fly fishing," his family said in a statement on social media.

"We are blessed beyond measure to have loved and been loved by this noble giant of a man."Cheney, 84, had a particularly notable political career.
