Chandrapur, Oct. 27 -- A 60-year-old former sarpanch was killed in a tiger attack in the Doma forest beat of Chimur division, near Shivra village in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district, officials said today.
The victim, identified as Nilkanth Bhure, had gone to his field last evening when a tiger attacked him.
Forest officials said Bhure died on the spot. His body was recovered early today after villagers alerted authorities.
This is the fourth fatal tiger attack in Chandrapur district within a week, sparking concern among local residents over rising human-wildlife conflict in the region.
