Guwahati, Sept. 27 -- The Bodoland Peoples' Front (BPF) made a strong comeback in the Bodoland Territorial Council elections in Assam, winning 28 out of 40 seats.

The ruling United Peoples' Liberal Party (UPPL) managed to win only seven seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which contested about 30 seats, secured just five. The Congress, which also participated in the elections, failed to win any seats.

"We anticipated this outcome. The UPPL has failed to govern the BTC, and the people have recognized the shortcomings of their rule. We are set to form the next government in the BTC," said BPF chief and former rebel leader Hagrama Mohilary.

Mohilary also announced that the new government is expected to be sworn in on October 3. ...
