New Delhi, Dec. 28 -- A Special CBI Court in Bhopal has sentenced a former postal assistant of Lashkar Head Post Office in Gwalior to five years of rigorous imprisonment for a fraud amounting to Rs 13.85 lakh.

The court convicted Rajnish Tiwari, the then Postal Assistant, and also imposed a fine of Rs 14,000.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the case on April 20, 2022, based on a written complaint from the Senior Superintendent of Post Office, Gwalior.

The complaint alleged that in 2020, Tiwari committed cheating and criminal breach of trust by illegally diverting Rs 13,85,496 from the Post Office.
