Azamgarh, Sept. 15 -- The MP-MLA Special Magistrate Court of Azamgarh district, presided over by Judge Anupam Kumar Tripathi, has sentenced former MP and current Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Ramakant Yadav to one year of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 3,800. The judgment came in connection with a 2006 case involving obstruction of government work and unlawful assembly.

According to prosecution officer Vipin Chandra Bhaskar, the case dates back to April 6, 2006, when Ramakant Yadav, accompanied by around 250 supporters, reached the Didarganj police station early in the morning.
