Mumbai, Dec. 20 -- Senior Congress leader, former union minister and ex-member of Parliament Shalinitai Patil passed away at her residence in the city.

She had been unwell for the past few months and breathed her last yesterday at her residence in the Mahim area of Mumbai, family sources said.

She was 94.

Her last rites will be performed at her native village in Koregaon taluka of Satara district. Her demise has plunged the Congress party and the state's political circles into deep mourning, with leaders across party lines expressing grief over the loss.
