Shillong, Aug. 22 -- Former Chief Minister and senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Dr Mukul Sangma has demanded a central probe on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) fraud worth nearly Rs 500 crore involving several coke plants in Meghalaya.

The large-scale tax evasion was unearthed by officials of the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Guwahati Zonal Unit, in Assam. Four individuals - Gaurav Agarwal, Deepak Agarwal, Vinod Agarwal and Guddu Singh - were arrested in connection with the racket, which was being operated from multiple locations in Assam's Beltola, spreading the network pan India.
