Shillong, Sept. 15 -- Five-time Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr. Donwa Dethwelson Lapang was laid to rest with full State honours and with 21-gun salute at the Jaiaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Weiking here today .
People including leaders from various political parties and government officials turned up in large numbers to bid a tearful farewell to Lapang, who passed away on Friday night due to age-related ailments.
The state funeral was held at the Student's Field, Jaiaw. The government had declared a three-day state mourning period from Friday.
