Shillong, Sept. 13 -- Former Meghalaya Chief Minister, Donwa Dethwelson Lapang, passed away on Friday night at Bethany Hospital, here.
Lapang was 93 and died of age-related medical conditions. He is survived by his wife, Amethyst Lynda Jones Blah, and two children.
The State government has announced a three-day state mourning and the national flag will fly half-mast at government buildings and no official event will be held for entertainment purpose during the state mourning period, Chief Secretary , Donald Philips Wahlang said.
The government has also decided to accord state funeral to the departed leader, which is scheduled to take place on September 15 in Shillong, he said.
